Isaac Plains Complex

Stanmore Resources owns and operates the Isaac Plains Complex in Queensland’s prime Bowen Basin region. The Complex comprises the Isaac Plains Mine and processing facilities, the adjoining Isaac Plains East and Isaac Downs mining areas, and the Isaac Plains Underground development project.

Stanmore Resources acquired Isaac Plains in November 2015, after the operation was placed in care and maintenance in late 2014 by the previous owners.

Mining recommenced at the Isaac Plains Mine in January 2016 and transitioned to the operations at Isaac Plains East from July 2018 through to January 2019. Most mining operations now occur at Isaac Downs.

Isaac Downs was approved for construction and operation in July 2021, and is expected to produce up to approximately 35Mt of ROM coal over 16 years.

With a mine life of 25-plus years, South Walker Creek produced 4.9Mt of high-quality low volatile PCI coal in FY21. South Walker Creek PCI is one of the highest performing PCI products in a steel blast furnace given its low volatility matter.

Stanmore Resources acquired BHP’s 80% interest in BMC in May 2022, becoming the operator of South Walker Creek.
