South Walker Creek

South Walker Creek, an open-cut mine acquired by Stanmore in 2022, lies 35 kilometers west of Nebo in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. Operating since 1996, the site utilises a multi-bench open-cut method with draglines, trucks, and hydraulic excavators. With a mine life exceeding 25 years, South Walker Creek mines up to 7Mtpa of high-quality, low-volatile Pulverised Coal for Injection (PCI). South Walker Creek PCI coal is one of the highest performing products in a steel blast furnace given its low volatility matter.
